Hormonal changes during menopause can lead to a range of symptoms, including hot flushes, mood swings, and irregular periods. Many women also experience vaginal dryness, loss of elasticity, and discomfort, which can significantly impact quality of life.

If you’ve noticed changes to your intimate health, the first and most important step is to speak to your GP. There are a number of treatments available, both hormonal and non-hormonal, and your doctor can guide you through the most appropriate options based on your individual health, history, and preferences.

One non-hormonal treatment that may be suitable for some women is polynucleotide injections. Originally used in aesthetic medicine for skin rejuvenation, polynucleotides are naturally occurring molecules made up of long chains of nucleotides - the building blocks of DNA and RNA.

How Do Polynucleotides support intimate health?

Polynucleotide treatments offer a regenerative approach to improving vaginal and vulvar tissue health. Their key benefits include:

  •  Restoring hydration and moisture - Helps retain water in tissues, relieving dryness and discomfort.

  •  Improving elasticity and firmness - Stimulates collagen production to enhance tissue suppleness.

  • Supporting healing and reducing sensitivity - Aids in tissue repair, soothing irritation and micro-tears.

  •  Enhancing comfort and confidence - Improves hydration and resilience, making daily life and intimacy more comfortable.

Who Provides This Treatment?

Our polynucleotide treatments for intimate health are offered by Dr. Harriet Protheroe. Dr. Harriet is both a GP and member of the British College of Aesthetic Medicine. She has a special interest in women’s health and menopause and is focussed on supporting you to feel your best as you navigate this stage in life. After an initial in-depth consultation, Dr Harriet will assess your individual needs and recommend a personalised treatment plan.

What Does the Treatment Involve?

  • A course of three injectable treatments is recommended, spaced three weeks apart, followed by a maintenance session every 4 - 6 months.

  • Each session lasts around 30 minutes and includes the application of numbing cream for comfort.

  • Many women notice improvements in hydration, comfort, and tissue quality within weeks.

  • Treatments are carried out at our discreet St. Martins clinic, with minimal downtime.
